Paying For Your Rental
How can I pay for my rental?
You can pay for your rental car using a credit card (Amex, Visa, Master/Eurocard, Diners; NOT Solo, Electron or Switch) or an Avis charge card. For some cars, two credit cards are required. You can also book Avis cars through a travel agent who may issue you with a car rental voucher which you present to the station (you will still need your credit card unless it is a full credit voucher).
Visa and Mastercard debit cards are an acceptable method of payment once CDI is included or has been accepted by the customer. Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards may be used to decline Super CDI.
Visa Electron cards are now accepted by Avis Ireland (other countries may or may not accept them) as a method of payment once wizard accepts them and they have the customer's name on them but CDI and Super CDI must be accepted by the customer if using this method of payment on check out.
Visa and Mastercard prepaid cards are acceptable at check in only.
American Express Travellers Cheque card is acceptable at check in only.
Declining Collision Damage Insurance/Theft Protection
CDI (Collision Damage Insurance) and Theft Protection insurance reduce your financial liability for damage or theft of the vehicle.
By declining these insurances you are taking responsibility to arrange your own cover and assume full financial liability up to the value of the vehicle for losses arising as a result of loss or damage to the vehicle.
We recommend that you fully understand the conditions of cover provided by your credit card company when using your card for insurance cover.
If you decide not to purchase CDI and Theft Protection you will be required to pay a liability deposit of EUR €3,000 at the start of your renyal using your credit card. An administration fee od EUR €30.00 applies for use of this service.
Paying by Debit Card
If you are using a debit card when renting the vehicle, Avis's Super Collision Damage Insurance must be purchased. Click here for insurance information
If I prepay my booking do I need a credit card when picking up the car?
Yes even if you have prepaid your booking you will need a credit card in your own name when picking up your car.
Can I pay by cash?
Cash payment is not normally possible. For a business rental you may be able to rent through a travel agent who can issue a full credit voucher. Otherwise, contact the rental station where you would like to rent directly.
How do I know my payment is secure?
The online reservation service is located on a secure server that guarantees the safety of a transaction. The system uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encrypting technology. SSL works by encrypting all communications between your computer and our server so the information cannot be intercepted.
What does Pay Now and Pay Later mean?
Pay Now is when you prepay for your at the time of booking online. Terms and conditions of pre-payment
Pay Later is when you pay the total amount at the rental station on return of your rental car Pay Now bookings often provide you a discount versus the Pay Later price and also allow you to budget effectively for your rental car prior to your travel dates.
When you collect your car, you will need to present a credit card in the name of the driver, even if you have opted for pre-pay. We process it for authorization on the estimated charges/ additional charges. The charges will only be made to your credit card once your rental in completed.
What if I have been charged for something incorrectly?
